GOLD HILL - Kay Basinger Morgan Hendrix, 61, of Gold Hill, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Novant Health-Rowan Medical Center.

She was born May 15, 1952, in Rowan County to Blanch Hatley Basinger and the late Harold Basinger. Kay was a graduate of East Rowan High School, class of 1970, and Harkey School of Nursing. She was an LPN for over 20 years at the Brian Center in Salisbury. Kay was a member of East Corinth Baptist Church, loved camping, traveling to the beach and mountains and, most especially, loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her son, Jason Morgan and wife Melissa of Salisbury; daughter, Cindy Rogers and husband Danny of Salisbury; brother, Terry Basinger of Gold Hill; her twin brother, Ray Basinger of Gold Hill; and her grandchildren, Brooke Morgan and Morgan and Anna Rogers.

Visitation:The family will receive friends Sunday evening, Dec, 29, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell.

Service:The funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. at East Corinth Baptist Church in Gold Hill, conducted by Rev. Johnny Daniel, pastor. Kay will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Powles Funeral Home to help defray expenses.

Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the family.
