SALISBURY - Jerry Wayne King, 68 of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday May 10, 2011, at the home of his cousin, Janet Owens Grubb.
Mr. King was born Nov. 4, 1942, in Rowan county, son of the late Waylon King and Mildred Louise Brown King Kesler. Mr. King was educated in the Rowan County school system and worked as a carpenter for Tim Ervin.
Jerry was a lifelong member of St. Peters Lutheran Church and was a veteran of the United States Navy.
In addition to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Earnhardt King; his brother, Bobby Ray King; and stepfather Crawford Kesler.
Mr. King is survived by his son, Tony King of Salisbury; granddaughter Jennifer King of Kannapolis; great-grandsons Eli and Gavin Hartsell of Kannapolis; and cousin Janet Owens Grubb.
Services: There will be a graveside service at the Salisbury National Cemetery, Statesville Boulevard location, on Friday, May 13 at 12 noon, conducted by Rev. David Ridenhour, pastor of St. Peters Lutheran Church.
Visitation: The family will receive friends on Friday, May 13 at Powles Funeral Home from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Memorials: May be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church, or to Rowan Regional Hospice.
