ROCKWELL - Mr. Howard Eugene Hill, 72, of Rockwell, "the baby of 10 children," went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 23, 2011.

Howard was born Dec. 31, 1938, the son of the late Ervin Alexander Hill and Vivian Holshouser Hill. Howard was educated in Rowan County schools.

Howard was a member of Bible Missionary Baptist Church, Rockwell, where he was very active in all phases of the church. Howard retired from Atlantic Recapping after 37 years of service and also had worked for Medley Electric. He also did odd jobs for many people of the community. He loved his family, grandchildren, his church and the Lord.

Survivors include wife Betty Swinson Hill, whom he married Oct. 7, 1961; sons Don Allen Hill and wife Amy of Rockwell, Corey Jo Hill and wife Krista of Salisbury; daughter Donna Jean Hall and husband Steve of Rockwell; grandchildren Justin Hall, Megan Blalock, Garrett Allen Hill, Grant Allen Hill and Gwen Marie Hill; brother James Hill of Samson, Ala.; and sister Nora Page of Mount Pleasant.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 26 at Powles Funeral Home and the residence the remainder of the time.

Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Monday, June 27 at Bible Missionary Baptist Church, Rockwell, conducted by Rev. Buddy Hoffner, pastor. Mr. Hill will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the Funeral Service in the Church.

Entombment will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Rockwell.

Memorials: May be made to Bible Missionary Baptist Church; or City of Refuge, 11360 Old Concord Road, Rockwell, NC.

Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the Hill family.
