Mae Belle Hipp Swinson

ROCKWELL - Mae Belle Hipp Swinson, 86, of Rockwell, went to be with Jesus, with her family by her side on Sept. 12, 2007, at The Hope House Family Care of Rockwell.

Mrs. Swinson was born April 2, 1921, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Henry Hipp and Lena Honeycutt Hipp. Mrs. Swinson was educated in Kluttz School and the Rowan County Schools and was a member of West Park Baptist Church, Rockwell, where she taught Sunday School and worked in Bible School. She had retired from the Rowan Regional Medical Center Housekeeping Department.

Also preceding her in death was a son, Gary Wayne Swinson, and a daughter, Novella Swinson.

Survivors include husband Arie Gustus Swinson, whom she married August 5, 1939; sons Robert Lee "Bill" Swinson of Butler, Tenn., Larry Thomas Swinson of Rockwell; daughters Betty Hill, Edith Dorton and Joyce Swinson, all of Rockwell, Vickie Haynes of Salisbury; brother James Hipp of Kentucky; sisters Lucille Knight of Rockwell and Ruby Boger of Gold Hill; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation: 12:30-2 p.m. today at West Park Baptist Church Children's Gymnasium, Rockwell.

Services: 2 p.m. today at West Park Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Charles Carver, Pastor. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
