Virgie Adams File, 87, Salisbury, died Wednesday (Feb. 2, 2005) at her home.

Born Feb. 24, 1917, in Putnam County, W.Va., Mrs. File was a daughter of the late Jim and Ethel Caldwell Adams. She attended the Putnam, W.Va., and Rowan County schools.

A homemaker and seamstress, she was a member of Wyatt’s Grove Baptist Church.

Her husband, John C. File, died March 22, 1990.

Survivors include sons Johnnie, Richard and Joe File, all of Salisbury; daughters Jean Shoaf, Morganton, and Judy Sledge, Granite Quarry; sister Louise File, Gold Hill; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Wyatts Grove Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Charles Carver, pastor, West Park Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell.
