SALISBURY - Harvey Adolphus Parker, Jr., 82, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 6, 1926, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Belle Ribelin Parker and Harvey A. Parker, Sr. Educated in Rowan County schools, he was employed by North Carolina Department of Transportation for 32 years. Mr. Parker was a member of Union Lutheran Church.

Preceding him in death were his brothers, L.C. Parker, J.B. Parker, who was killed during World War II, and Guy C. Parker; and sisters Marie P. Canon and Rena P. Walton.

Survivors include wife Martha Basinger Parker, whom he married Nov. 12, 1947; sons Jimmy Parker (Gennene) of Rockwell, Robert Parker of Spencer; daughters Faye Nelson (Gregg) of Mocksville, Katherine Goodman (Randy) of China Grove; grandchildren Jeffrey Parker (Julie) of Salisbury, Chrissy Goodman of Charleston, S.C., Amanda Smith (Lynn) of Salisbury, Cammie Misenheimer (Jeremy) of Rockwell, Randy Goodman, Jr. (Ashley), stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri; great-grandchildren Hunter and Justin Smith, Sarah and Brian Parker, Colin and Evan Misenheimer.

Visitation: 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27 at Lyerly Funeral Home; and at other times, the family will be at the residence.

Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28 at Union Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.

Memorials: Union Lutheran Church, Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury.
