Martha Basinger Parker

Mrs. Martha Lavada Basinger Parker, 85, of Salisbury passed away at her residence on Sunday July 3, 2016. She was born on August 9, 1930 in Rowan County a daughter of the late William Waverly Basinger and the late Addie Rinehart Basinger. A 1948 graduate of Rockwell High School, she retired from Fiber Industries as a Lab Analyst. She was a member of Union Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Catherine Mahaley Sunday School class and the Union Women's Mary and Martha Group. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting but spending time with her family was her most favorite pastime.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband H.A. "Harvey" Parker, Jr. on January 25, 2009.

Survivors include her sons; Jimmy D. Parker and wife Gennene of Rockwell and Robert K.Parker and wife Philly of Statesville. Two daughters; Faye P. Nelson and husband Gregg of Mocksville and Katherine P. Goodman and husband Randy of China Grove. Five Grandchildren; Jeffrey Parker and wife Julie of Salisbury, Chrissy Goodman of Greenville, NC, Amanda Smith and husband Lynn of Salisbury, Cammie Misenheimer and husband Jeremy of Rockwell and Randy Goodman, Jr. and wife Terri of Kannapolis and eight Great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 12:30pm until 2:00pm on Thursday July 7 at Union Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. T. C. Plexico officiating. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell.

Memorials may be made to Union Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund or Union Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury.
