NEW LONDON -The funeral is today for Joe D. Huneycutt, 65, New London, who died Wednesday (March 7, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born May 13, 1935, in Stanly County, Mr. Huneycutt was a son of the late James Graham and Edith Catherine Coggins Huneycutt. He was a 1953 graduate of New London High School.

A carpenter, he worked in commercial construction. He was a veteran of the U.S.Army.

Survivors include wife Betty Yarborough Huneycutt, whom he married in May 1982; sons Chris Huneycutt, Mount Pleasant, and Randy J. Huneycutt, Albemarle; daughter Melanie H. Baker, New London; stepdaughter Misti Shue, Albemarle; seven grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

Services: Graveside, 2 today, Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sanders, pastor, Clearwater Baptist Church, and the Rev. Tony Bowman, pastor, Matton's Grove Methodist Church.
