Notes for Luther Haston Hatley
On 6 Aug 1886 Hasten Hatley and wife M.J. Hatley deeded one acre to the Stanly County Public School Committee for Herrin School. A spring on this land provided the school with water.
Herrin School had one room in which one teacher taught grades 1 through 7. It operated until 1927 or 1928 when it consolidated with Ridgecrest and Millingport.
Students at the school in the early 1900’s included Luther Hatley, Mary Page, Chan Hatley, and Jonah Page.
