Eli Calvin Morgan

Eli Calvin Morgan, 88, of Gold Hill, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

He was born March 24, 1935, in Rowan County, to the late Gilmer and Geneva Morgan Morgan. Mr. Morgan attended Morgan School and Rockwell High School. He was employed by Cannon Mills and loved attending his home church, Eastside Baptist Church. Mr. Morgan would help anyone that he could and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, telling jokes to those around him, and Westerns. He loved his family and especially loved spending time with his family, he was a family man.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lee Morgan; brothers, Junior Morgan, Bobby Morgan, and Charles Morgan; sister, Margaret Louise Casper; and great-granddaughter, Brittnie Anne Campbell.

He is survived by his sons, David Morgan (Robin) and Calvin Morgan (Bonnie); daughters, Ellen Campbell (Billy) and Melissa Benton (Danny); 12 grandchildren, Scott and Philip Morgan, Crystal Lee, Ariel Harwood, Sonny, Kimber and Miranda Benton, BJ and Donna Campbell and Brandon, Christopher and Elijah Morgan; 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, sisters, Sylvia Casper and Ruth K. Safrit.

The family will greet friends and relatives on Saturday, January 13, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Eastside Baptist Church.

A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm on Saturday, at the church, with Pastor Jim Hunsucker officiating.
