ROCKWELL - Mr. "Ray" Carl Pickler, Sr., 76, of Rockwell, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury.
Ray was born Feb. 25, 1938 in Rowan County, the son of the late Carl Hall Pickler and Geneva Bostian Pickler.
Ray was a 1956 graduate of Rockwell High School, was owner and operator of Ray's Auto Sales and Body Shop and Ray's Scooter Shop in Rockwell. He attended Emmanuel Baptist Church, Salisbury, was an avid fisherman and loved to go to the mountains. He was a Mason.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Dana Leigh Pickler.
Survivors include son, Ray Carl "Jaybird" Pickler, Jr. and wife Vicki; daughter, Jill Pickler Platt and husband Ray of Salisbury; step-son, Justin Todd Gragg; step-daughter, Mandi Nicole Newton of Rockwell; sisters, Mary Stevens and husband Jack, Joan Brines and husband Doug and Patty Jane White of Concord; grandson, Cody Daniel Pickler; and great-grandchildren, Aubrey Pickler, Mason Whitley, Devin Furr, Madison Newton and Bradon Gragg.
Visitation: 11a.m.-12:45p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014 at Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell
Funeral Service: 1p.m. Friday, at the Powles Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Gene Sides, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Salisbury. Interment will be at Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2300 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC.
