Thursday, December 20, 2007 — Marvin Eugene Lisk, 57, of 16655 Saint Martin Road, Albemarle, died at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, in CMC Charlotte,

His funeral was at 11 a.m. Thursday with a 30-minute state in Shepherd’s Chapel Community Church. The Rev. Les Schofield and The Rev. Jay Weemhoff officiated and burial was in Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle.

Born June 8, 1950, in Stanly County, he was a son of Billie Ray Dry Lisk of Albemarle and the late John William “Lefty” Lisk, Sr. and was self-employed in construction.

Marvin attended Stanly County Schools and graduated from NCSU with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked with Progress Energy (CP&L;) as a Professional Engineer. He was co-owner of Burleson and Lisk and was a realtor with Whitley Realty. He was an unlimited licensed contractor.

A founding member of Shepherd’s Chapel Community Church, he was also chairman of the building committee and a past member of the Optimist Club. He was active in baseball, softball and golf. He was a member of the 2006 National Championship Triangle Cobra Softball Team of Raleigh.

His wife, Sabra Kay Underwood Lisk, preceded him in death in 1994.

In addition to his mother he is survived by a daughter, Samantha Megan Lisk of Albemarle; a son, James William Laxton and wife, Brittany, of Raleigh; a grandson, Brody James Laxton; and a brother, John Lisk and wife, Delaine, of Atlanta, Ga.
