SALISBURY - Charlie Ray Shepherd, Sr., 74, of Salisbury, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born on Friday Nov. 5, 1937 in Rowan County, he was a son of the late John Charlie Shepherd and Carrie Poplin Shepherd.
Mr. Shepherd attended the schools of Rowan County. He was employed as a welder with Taylor Manufacture. He was a member of Trading Ford Baptist Church.
On Saturday Nov. 29, 1958, in Salisbury, he married the love of his life Bessie Irene Ridenhour.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Bessie Shepherd, of Salisbury; one daughter, Linda Gobrish, of Albermarle; two sons, Charlie Ray Shepherd, Jr., of Mooresville and John Robert Shepherd, of Salisbury; two sisters, Janie Shepherd Mowbray and Linda James, both of Salisbury; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step-grandson and four step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation & Service: 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, June 27 at Trading Ford Baptist Church, 3600 Long Ferry Road Salisbury with memorial service to follow at 4 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Mike Motley. At other times the family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Janie Mowbray, 755 Crawford Road, Salisbury.
Memorials: Contributions may be made to the widow at 515 S. Main Street, Salisbury, NC, 28144 to help with funeral expenses.
