GRANITE QUARRY -- Bobby Ford Lyerly, 68, Granite Quarry, died Tuesday (April 27, 2004) at Durham VA Medical Center.
Born Jan. 15, 1936, in Rowan County, Mr. Lyerly, a son of the late Isaac Ford and Myrtle Barger Lyerly, was educated in the Rowan County schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines.
Owner and operator of Bob Lyerly Construction Co., he was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Keller Memorial Masonic Lodge 657, Rowan County Shrine Club, Scottish Rite, Granite Quarry American Legion, Livengood-Peeler Wood 448.
A daughter, Miste Dawn Lyerly, died May 18, 1984.
Survivors include wife Mary Ann Lomax Lyerly, whom he married Oct. 8, 1988; stepson Nick Wadell, Salisbury; stepdaughters Dawn Derringer, Gold Hill, and Laura Cargner, Salisbury; brothers John Joe Lyerly,Granite Quarry, and Tex Carlton Lyerly, Salisbury; and seven grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Powles Funeral Home chapel, Rockwell, conducted by the Rev. John E. Pless, pastor, Organ Lutheran Church. Masons will be seated as a group. Burial, Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell. Military rites by Rowan County Veterans Council.
Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
