Gina Poole Talbert

Mrs. Gina Poole Talbert, 60 of Salisbury passed away at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem on August 27, 2015. Mrs. Talbert was born August 12, 1955 in Rowan County, daughter of the late William M. "Bill" Poole and Jean Fisher Poole.

Mrs. Talbert was a 1973 graduate of East Rowan High School and a 1977 graduate of UNCC where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Math Education.

She has taught at Albmarle High School and East Rowan High School where she retired as a Math Teacher, she then taught at Rowan Cabaruss Community College for 5 years. At Albemarle High School she coached many sports and at East Rowan she coached and was the Head Basketball coach starting in 1991 and also served as Athletic Director.

Mrs. Talbert was a life long member of St. James Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, and is the current Council Chair and was always active in all phases of Church work. Gina loved her family and spending time with them especially her granddaughters. She also loved animals.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, David Ray "T-Bird" Talbert.

Gina is survived by her son Derek Talbert of Greensboro, daughter Taren T. Davis and husband Drew of Salisbury, granddaughters, Harper and Sloane and a grandson due in November, sisters Lisa Ledbetter of Rockwell and Laurie Wyrick and husband Todd of Salisbury. She is also survived by step-mother June C. Poole of Rockwell.

She is also survived by sister in law Ann Edison and husband Wally, nieces and nephews Trey Ledbetter and wife Cortney and daughter Kinsley, Samuel and Seth Wyrick, Kari Britschege and husband Mike and son Crue and Kyle and Austin Venrick.

The family will receive friends at Powles Staton Funeral Home on Sunday, August 30 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

The funeral service will be on Monday, August 31 at St. James Lutheran Church at 2:00 PM conducted by Rev. Jason Huebner, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
