SALISBURY - Barbara Jean Ketchie Basinger, 69, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Basinger was born Feb. 7, 1943, in Rowan County, daughter of the late Harold Littleton Ketchie and Myrtle Louise Cauble Ketchie. Mrs. Basinger was a graduate of North Rowan High School and was employed by Wachovia Bank in Sales Finance until her retirement in 2000.
She was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Osco Lee Basinger, who passed away on Sept. 29, 2011.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Basinger and wife Amanda of Faith; daughter Marnie Basinger Deal and husband Danny of Salisbury; sister Brenda Ketchie Lyerly and husband Don of Salisbury; special aunts Bernita Abernathy and Aliene McCombs; and grandchildren Alyssa Deal and Tristen Basinger.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 1 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Powles Funeral Home.
Service: The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday Feb. 1 at The Powles Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Gary S. Coble, pastor, St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the U.S. National Cemetery in Salisbury.
Memorials: May be made to St. Matthews Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 9275 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146; or The American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave., Suite 100 Charlotte, NC 28207.
