Buddy James Hatley
Buddy James Hatley, 75, of Oakboro passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Atrium Health Main. He will lie in state at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care in Albemarle on Monday, December 13, 2021 from 9AM-5PM. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at West Albemarle Baptist Church in the Family Life Center officiated by Rev. Adam Hatley and Rev. Jason Hatley. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will follow in the Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Hatley was born December 6, 1946 in Stanly County to the late James Charles Hatley and Minnie Belle Lambert Hatley. Bud was a farmer in Stanly County for over 40 years before retiring in 2017. He was a member at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and attended West Albemarle Baptist Church. Mr. Hatley was a volunteer fireman with Endy Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his animals, and his friends. His personal goal in life was to take care of other people and he did that very well.
Bud is survived by his sons: Adam Hatley (Candace) of Oakboro, Jason Hatley (Karen) of Boca Raton, FL; grandchildren: Eli, Emma, Abigail, and Charlie Hatley; fiancé: Jean Kennedy of Oakboro; sister: Oleamer Burleson of Albemarle; brother-in-law; Doug Bowers of Albemarle; sister-in-law: Lynn Hunter of Oakboro. He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Bowers Hatley, sisters Frankie Jean Murray and Patsy Lambert.
