C. L. Hill

C. L. Hill, age 83, of 32899 Hwy 49, New London, N.C. went home to be with his Lord and Savior and wife Betty on Monday, October 11, 2010 at the N.C. Veterans Home in Salisbury, N.C.

He was born November 27, 1926 in Rowan County, N.C. to the late Zeb Lee Hill and Mary Magalene Hall Hill. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hazelene Hatley Hill; brothers, Gerald Hill and Mitchell Hill; sister, Frances Leoppard; half brother, Kim Hill; and step-great-grandson, Jacen Campbell.

Mr. Hill was a retired textile worker with American Efird and Wiscassett Mills and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He is survived by his son, Starkey Win Hill and wife Dawn of New London; sister, Evelyn Stamper of Albemarle; half brother, Tony Hill of Albemarle; half sisters, Judy Aldridge of Harrisburg and Debbie Lowder of New London; grandchildren, Joseph, Starlette and Crystal Hill; one great-grandchild, Aiden Barringer; three stepgrandchildren, Stephanie Campbell, Michael Melton, Jr. and Bradley Melton; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Jena Campbell, Cheyenne Melton and Chad Melton.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. Graveside service will be Friday, October 15, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Richfield with Rev. Gene Sides officiating.

Military honors graveside by Albemarle-Stanly County DAV Chapter 12.

The family will meet at the home of his son, Starkey Hill, 32891 Hwy. 49, New London.
