Judith 'Judy' Holshouser

SALISBURY - Judith H. "Judy" Holshouser, 69, left her earthly home to go to her Heavenly Father on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, surrounded by her loving family after four years of declining health.

Judy was born in Rowan County on July 20, 1943, to the late James Curtis Hankins and Evelyn Smith. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Wayne Brown.

Judy was a member of Rock Grove United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, a member of United Methodist Women and the church choir. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Holshouser, who she married on Sept. 21, 1985; son Danny Brown and wife Lisa of Hendersonville, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Brown of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter Kathy Bost and husband Jackie of Rockwell; grandchildren Jonathan Brown of Charlotte, Alex and Zachary Brown of Hendersonville, Tenn., Hannah Brown of Knoxville, Tenn., Natasha Sifford and husband Bradley of Salisbury, Carrie Newton and husband Steve of Salisbury, and Amanda Masten and husband Scott of Faith; great-grandchildren Steven Newton, Christian Newton, Katelyn Sifford and Ella Sifford; brother James Hankins and companion Marilyn; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; along with nieces and nephews too numerous to name.

Visitation: Family will be at Powles Funeral Home Friday, Dec. 14 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.; and at the residence the remainder of the time.

Services: Funeral services will be held at Rock Grove United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Randy Lucas officiating. Judy will lie in state 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell.

Judy's family would like to thank the church family, friends, doctors and nurses who loved and cared for her during her illness.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Rock Grove United Methodist Church.

Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the Holshouser family.
