Bobby Caudle

GOLD HILL - Bobby Caudle, 62, of Gold Hill, died Tuesday (July 26, 2005) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte. Born Feb. 8, 1943, in Stanly County, Mr. Caudle was a son of the late Wade and Flossie Efird Caudle. Educated in Rowan County schools, he attended Liberty United Methodist Church.

Mr. Caudle retired due to disability from Matthews International, where he was a mechanic and welder for 25 years. He was an avid grandfather clock-maker.

Also preceding him in death was son Johnny Ray Caudle, who died in February 1966; brother Alvin Caudle, who died in 1968; and son-in-law Don Swing, who died Dec. 9, 2003.

Survivors include wife Nancy Drye Caudle, whom he married June 29, 1962; daughters Susan Swing of Gold Hill and Becky Ludwick and husband Thomas William Ludwick of Salisbury; grandchildren Daniel Kesler and Thomas William Ludwick Jr.; great-grandchildren Austin Ludwick and Trevor Ludwick; sister Shelia Dry of Gold Hill; and mother-in-law Mary Lou Dry of Rockwell.

Services : 10 a.m. Friday at Powles Funeral Home Chapel, Rockwell, conducted by the Rev. Dan Gobble, pastor of Providence United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell.

Visitation : 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
