Margaret Drye Miller

Margaret Drye Miller, 74, of Salisbury, passed away on Monday October 10, 2016 at Novant Rowan Medical Center surrounded by family. Mrs. Miller was born on May 10, 1942 in Rowan County, to the late Claude A. Drye Sr. and Mary Lou Shaver Drye.

Margaret was in the first graduating class of East Rowan High School and she received her Associates Degree in Business from Salisbury Business College and Rowan Cabarrus Community College. She was the Office Manager and Bookkeeper for over 18 years at The Meadows in Rockwell. Margaret was a life long member of Dunn's Mountain Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Women's Missionary Union. She enjoyed working in her garden, growing flowers, traveling to Alaska and Africa to participate in missionary trips, and spending time with her family and friends who knew her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Samuel "Sammy" Clark Miller; two daughters, Renee Shrewsbury (Barry) of Salisbury, and Sarah McManus (Donald) of Concord; two brothers, Claude A. Drye Jr. (Nancy) of Salisbury, James C. Drye (Bonnie) of Walkertown; one sister, Nancy D. Caudle of Gold Hill; one granddaughter, Hannah McManus; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces, and great nephews.

The Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 12, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday October 13, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell conducted by Rev. Bill Hallman. The Burial will follow at Dunn's Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Kris Snider, Lisa Sims, Carla Dearth, and Nurse Nona; and a special thank you to Dr. Chris Agner.
