ROCKWELL - James "Cigar" Lee Holshouser, 82, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2007, at The Meadows of Rockwell.
Born June 12, 1925, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Paul A. Holshouser and Beulah Misenheimer Holshouser. He attended Rockwell Schools.
Mr. Holshouser was employed by Hoechst Celanese for 23 years and retired in 1991. He was a member of St. Lukes Reformed Church and was a member of Brownie Fisher Sunday School Class. He was also a past member of the Church Council and was a member of the VFW-American Legion.
Mr. Holshouser is survived by his wife Virginia Peeler; son Dennis L. Holshouser and wife Connie of Rockwell; brother Glenn Robert Holshouser of Rockwell; sisters Faye Cooper, Blanche Welch, and Willie Shue of Rockwell; grandchildren Travis Holshouser and wife Karla of Raleigh, and Amy Powell and husband Shawn of Concord. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Lukes Reformed Church in Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Johnny Boggs, pastor. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Rowan County Honor Guard.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 1-2:00 p.m., and will be at the residence the remainder of the time.
Memorials: St. Lukes Reformed Church or to Rowan Regional Home Health and Hospice.
