Kathy Brady Whitley

ROCKWELL - Kathy Brady Whitley, 57, passed away peacefully on the morning of Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2012 at the Meadows Retirement Center of Rockwell.

She was born in Rowan County on Sept. 26, 1955, to the late Claude Herman Brady and Estelle Yost Brady. She was a graduate of East Rowan High School.

Kathy enjoyed getting together with her Special group of school friends. She was very talented and creative with skills of crocheting beautiful afghans. She found happiness in giving them to friends. Kathy belonged to the Craft Club at The Meadows Retirement Center and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church of Salisbury.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger D. Whitley, who passed away Feb. 28, 2012.

Kathy is survived by her brother, Jimmy L. Brady and wife, Elizabeth; special nephews, Eric D. Brady and wife, Ann and Brad D. Brady and wife, Heather. She was very fond of her great nieces, Kristen Brady and Bell Brady and great nephew, Ryan Lee Brady. She had crocheted an afghan for each of them for Christmas.

Service: A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Powles Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Joe Black, pastor of Eastside Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Eastside Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation: Will be from 2- 3 p.m. Friday prior to the service at Powles Funeral Home.

Memorials: May be made to Eastside Baptist Church.

The family's heart overflow with thankfulness to "The Classmate Girls" who were faithful to Kathy with their unselfish love and time devoted to her during the past ten months.

The Family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff & friends at The Meadows Retirement Center of Rockwell for their special caring concerns, patience, thoughtful deeds of kindness and many acts of love, support and compassion.
