Lucille Peeler Brown

FAITH -- The funeral will be Sunday for Lucille Peeler Brown, 86, Faith, who died Thursday (Sept. 25, 2003) at her home.

Born Dec. 15, 1916, in Rowan County, Mrs. Brown, a daughter of the late Lonnie Banks and Lottie Belle Efird Peeler, was a 1934 graduate of Granite Quarry High School.

She worked as a seamstress for Cannon Mills, Carolina Maid, and Jennette Maternity. A life member of Shiloh United Church of Christ, she was a former Sunday school teacher, a member of the consistory and the women's guild, and a youth fellowship advisor. She is a charter member of Faith American Legion Auxiliary 327.

Her son, Van Lane Brown, died in Dec. 1960.

Survivors include husband Van B. Brown, whom she married May 19, 1939; daughter Susan Lynn Brown Cannon, Faith; brother John Floyd Peeler, Bulls Gap, Tenn.; sister Rachel P. Bailey, Marion, S.C.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services: 4 p.m. Sunday, Shiloh United Church of Christ, conducted by the Rev. Priscilla Causey, pastor, and the Rev. Lori Hefner, Hospice chaplain. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 4-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell. At other times the family will be at the home.

Memorials: Rowan Regional Medical Center; or Shiloh United Church of Christ, Memorial Fund, Faith, NC.
