Donna Jones Swinson
ROCKWELL - Mrs. Donna Jones Swinson, 64, of Rockwell passed away at CMC NorthEast Medical Center in Concord on Jan. 4, 2012.
Mrs. Swinson was born Sept. 9, 1947 in Rowan County, daughter of the late George Jones II and Margaret Fortune Jones. She was a 1965 graduate of East Rowan High School and Salisbury Business College. She retired as secretary from Square D Power Box Solutions due to her health. She was a member of West Park Baptist Church and enjoyed looking after her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by brother George F. Jones III, sisters Ruby Jones Rhinehardt, Ada Jones Mills and her nephew Craig Rhinehardt whom Mrs. Swinson helped raise.
Mrs. Swinson is survived by her husband Larry Swinson, whom she married Sept. 6, 1980; sons Aaron Swinson and wife Melissa of Mt. Pleasant, Nathan Swinson and wife Heidi of Concord; daughter Summer Swinson Carver and husband Brian of Rockwell; brother Leonard D. Jones and wife Sarah of Hilton Head, SC, grandchildren, Shannon Swinson, Elisabeth Swinson, Luke Swinson, Natalie Carver, Emma Grace Swinson, and Ethan Carver.
Visitation and Services: The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at Powles Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 at West Park Baptist Church, conducted by Pastor Charles Carver. Mrs. Swinson will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to West Park Baptist Church, 715 W. Park Drive, Rockwell, NC 28138.
