Rev. Harold Ray Smith Sr.

Rev. Harold Ray Smith Sr., 80, of Salisbury, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 17, 2018 at his home in Salisbury, surrounded by family. He was born August 8, 1937 in Rowan County, to the late Webster Tobe Smith and Ivey Grubb Smith. He Proudly served his country in the United States Army. 

He was educated in the Rowan County School System and retired from Colors Unlimited Painting. Harold was the Pastor at Parker Memorial Baptist Church in Richfield, NC. He enjoyed sitting on his back porch, feeding the little animals in their yard, and working in his little garden. Harold also enjoyed going to the Blue Ridge Mountains, visiting the waterfalls, reading books, and cheering for the NC teams in all sports and the LA Dodgers. Most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior and spreading the word of the Lord to all he knew.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolly Honeycutt Smith who passed away on April 13, 1995; a son, Harold Ray Smith, Jr.; a brother, Wesley Tobe Smith; and a sister, Betty Smith Berrier.

Harold is survived by his wife, Rachel Rowland Smith, whom he married October 26, 1996; a son, Jerome Lee Smith and wife Maia of Rockwell; three daughters, Teresa Holshouser and husband Terry of Gold Hill, Penny Biggers and husband Ed of Gastonia, and Rhonda Smith of Granite Quarry; a sister, Sallie Peeler and husband Claude of Granite Quarry; a brother, James "Jim" Smith and wife Shirley of Salisbury; seventeen grandchildren, and twenty six great-grandchildren. 

The family will greet friends and relatives on Sunday, May 20, 2018, 2:30 pm - 3:45 pm at Parker Memorial Baptist Church, Richfield, NC.

The funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at Parker Memorial Baptist Church, Richfield, NC, with Rev. Terry Garner of Marion and Rev. Cody Zorn of Rockwell officiating.

Burial will take place in the Parker Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Stanly County Veterans Honor Guard and the North Carolina National Guard. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Parker Memorial Baptist Church, Richfield, NC.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care, especially his nurse, Angie.
