Myrtle Lucille Simmons Corl

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - Myrtle Lucille Simmons Corl, 89, of Jacksonville and formerly of Gold Hill, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, at Britthaven Nursing Home.

Mrs. Corl was born Feb. 14, 1918, in Edenton, a daughter of the late Deward and Millie Hooker Simmons. She was educated at East Lake School and also in Rowan County Schools. She had worked at Cannon Mills and was a waitress.

Mrs. Corl was a member of the Salisbury Seventh-Day Adventist Church, the Bible Study Class and was a former member of the Salvation Army.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Grady Corl, in 1978 and two sons, Donald Wayne Corl and Jerry Lynn Corl.

Survivors include two sons, John Grady Corl Jr. and Robert Corl of Gold Hill; daughter Melva Adams of Jacksonville, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: The family will be at Powles Funeral Home from 7-8:30 pm Wednesday.

Services: Graveside Services will be conducted at 11 am Thursday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery by Pastor Werner Gil, pastor of the Salisbury Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Salisbury Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 305 Rudolph Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.
