Janet Park

After a brief illness, Janet Shuping Park, 82, of Rockwell passed away at Genesis HealthCare Salisbury Center on Monday, Nov. 14, 2016. She was born on Dec. 23, 1933 in Cabarrus County, son of the late Clifford Christenberry and Della Eagle Shuping.

She attended Rockwell Elementary School and worked in the sewing room of Cannon Mills Plant 1, hemming towels and washcloths during her early life. She was a life-time member of Organ Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Marvin James Park in April of this year; their eldest son Terry Marvin Park (wife Vickie, who survives); and by four of her five siblings, Doug Shuping, Lois Shuping, Glenn Shuping and Margaret Faye Shuping.

She is survived by sons Alvin Ross Park (Sandra) of China Grove and DPCS (SW) Don R. Park, USN, Ret of Goose Creek, S.C.; grandchildren Anne Park White (Chip) of Mooresville, Jeremy Terran Park (Claire) of Winnetka, Calif., Amanda Park Basinger (Joseph) of Rockwell, and Brandi Park Buckman (Shawn) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and great-grandchildren, Matthew White, Kathleen White, Christian Basinger, Noah Basinger, Ava Basinger, Kailee Buckman and Rylee Buckman. She is also survived by a brother, Clifford Paul Shuping of Rockwell.

Visitation and Service: The funeral will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m., at Organ Lutheran Church with the Pastor Carlin Ours officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Organ Lutheran Church Foundation.
