Mrs. Norma Durrence James, 67, of Charlotte passed away December 1, 1997, at her residence.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at McEwen Pineville Chapel with Rev. Elmer Wilson and Rev. Gary Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at McEwen Pineville Chapel.
Mrs. James was born Jan. 6, 1930, in Tattnall County, GA, a daughter of the late John McLean and Martha Swindell Durrence, and was a longtime active member of The Charlotte First Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are her husband, Julius Erving James, Sr.; sons, Edward James and wife, Donna, of Charlotte, J.E. James, Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Nolensville, Tenn.; grandsons, Derek, Brandon and Ryan James of Charlotte; sisters, Kathryn Baxter and Joyce Todd of Georgia; and brothers, Cyril Durrence and Willie Durrence of Georgia.
Mrs. James was preceded in death by a number of brothers and sisters. Mrs. James will be missed by a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Charlotte First Church of the Nazarene, Charlotte, NC.
McEwen Funeral Service, Pineville Chapel, is serving the family of Mrs. James.
