Mrs. Ila H. James, 97, of Charlotte, died Thursday, January 2, 2003 at Huntersville Oaks Nursing Home.
The family will receive friends from 9 until 11 am Monday, January 6 at the Wilson Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 5301 Albemarle Road, with a graveside service to follow at 11:30 am at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Born May 3, 1905 in Charlotte, NC, Mrs. James was a daughter of the late Bradley Helms and Della Lucinda Amelia Williams Helms. She was a homemaker and a seamstress, and a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her sons, Ernest C. James, Jr. of Asheville, NC, Charles B. James of Spring Hill, FL, David E. James of Norwood, NC, Gene E. James of Live Oak, CA and J. Erving James of Charlotte; a daughter, Helen Mitchell of Temple Terrace, FL; a brother, Grady Helms of Charlotte; a sister, Ernestine Covington of Jacksonville, NC; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Arrangements are by the Wilson Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service.
