James Milton Hudson, Sr.

James Milton Hudson, Sr., (Poppaw Milt) 88, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017, at his home. Milton was born February 9, 1929, in Rowan County, NC to the late Rufus Franklin and Zelna Calloway Hudson.

Milton was retired from Power Curbers in Salisbury and was formerly employed by Cannon Mills in Kannapolis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Doris Corl Hudson who passed away October 16, 2014, son, Ralph Scott Hudson who passed away September 8, 2010, brothers, Harold, Hoyle, Doyle, Dan, and Rufus Hudson, Jr., and sister, Coleen Hudson Gureau.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, James Milton Hudson, Jr., and wife, Gwen, of Salisbury, with whom he made his home, two daughters, Jennifer Hudson of Newport and Carol Goodman and husband, David, of Kannapolis, daughter-in-law, Sandra Tapscott and husband, Creel, of Swansboro, NC, brothers, Bill Hudson of Kannapolis and Ed Hudson of Salisbury, sisters, Peggy Sams and husband, Bobby, of Rockwell and Sue Buffalino and husband, Charles, of San Antonio, TX, sister-in-law, Delma Baity, six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three-great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Randy Drafts, pastor.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the Family Life Center until 4:30 PM and at the home of Jim and Gwen Hudson the remainder of the time.

Burial will be private.

The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff of Advanced Home Care, especially his nurse, Blye, and to Rowan County Emergency Personnel for their assistance.
