Gladys Troutman Eagle

Gladys Troutman Eagle, 89, of Gold Hill, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023.

She was born December 26, 1933, in Cabarrus County, to the late Theodore Clyde Troutman and Addie Wagoner Troutman. Mrs. Eagle was educated in Stanly County and was a graduate of Richfield High School. She then attended Pilgrim Bible College in Kernersville, Pfeiffer College, and Cabarrus Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Eagle served as a missionary nurse in Zambia, Africa, for 18 months, from 1959 until 1961. She was employed at Rowan Memorial Hospital and retired from W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, in 1993, after 30 years. Mrs. Eagle was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church and was a former Sunday school teacher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doy H. Eagle; daughter, Lisa Bailey; four brothers; and three sisters.

Mrs. Eagle is survived by her children, Hollis W. Eagle of Salisbury, David C. Eagle and wife, Regina, of Gold Hill, Heidi Hatley of Gold Hill, Clara Goodnight and husband, Brian, of China Grove; step-daughters, Linda Altman of Lexington, SC, and Janice Mull of Statesville; son-in-law, Frankie Bailey of Salisbury; grandchildren, Holly, Heather, Joshua, Misty, Nicholas, Makayla, Grant, and Megan; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM on Saturday, December 16, at Liberty United Methodist Church.

The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM, on Saturday, in the church, with Pastor Mark Loman, Pastor Charlie Curtis, and Pastor Charlie Ashby officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Eagle's caregivers, Barbra Bostian and Joan Hardin, for their dedication and care.
