GOLD HILL - Doy Hollace Eagle, 93 of Gold Hill, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008, at his residence.

Mr. Eagle was born Jan. 20, 1915, in Rowan County, a son of the late William Grant Eagle and Laura Dovie Cranford Eagle. He graduated from Rockwell High School and retired from Fieldcrest Cannon Mills after 45 years of service in the maintenance department.

Mr. Eagle was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church and a Sunday School teacher for many years. Doy was a very loving, devoted husband and daddy.

Mr. Eagle is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gladys Troutman Eagle; two sons, Hollis W. Eagle of Salisbury and David C. Eagle and wife Regina of Gold Hill; five daughters, Heidi E. Hatley and husband Chris and Lisa E. Bailey and husband Frankie of Salisbury, Clara E. Goodnight and husband Brian of China Grove, Linda E. Altman and husband Eddie of Lexington, S.C., and Janice E. Mull and husband Gary of Statesville; one sister, Mrs. Bernice E. Byrum of Salisbury; grandchildren Holly and Heather Hatley, Misty and Megan, Makayla and Grant Eagle, Joshua and Nicholas Goodnight, Dana Salley, Mark Morefield, Stacey Rollins and Beth Dirks; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and nine sisters.

Service: The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18 at Liberty United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Brad Cunningham and the Rev. Charles McHargue. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The body will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, May 17.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to Liberty United Methodist Church, Building Fund.
