Notes for Alexander C. Kirk
Alexander inherited from his father what is now known as the old Lowder Ferry, which was just below the junction of the Uwharrie and Yadkin Rivers, where the Yadkin becomes the Pee Dee River. Around 1830 he sold the ferry to his brother, George, who operated it until he died in 1845. Sometime 1860-1870 George's heirs sold the ferry and land to David Lowder.
