Adam cut his leg (near the shin bone) with an axe about 1930. The wound did not bleed. Phlebitis developed and he was an invalid for most of the rest of his life. There were months at a time when he was bedfast. Jesse Floyd Page cut Adam's hair while Adam was lying in bed, unable to sit up.
It was after this accident that Adam and his family moved to Landis.
