CHINA GROVE - Mrs. Imogene Page Safrit, 73 of 215 Horton Lane, China Grove died on Saturday January 19, 2008 at The Laurels of Salisbury.

The daughter of Adam and Mary Harrington Page, she was born on June 12, 1934 in Albemarle. A graduate of Landis High School and Lenoir Rhyne College, she earned a masters degree from Appalachian State and her Ed.S. from West Georgia College. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Safrit spent her life as a teacher and retired from East Rowan High School where she was known as the "ticket lady" selling tickets at all of the athletic events.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Donald Lynn Safrit on October 31, 1997.

Surviving her is a daughter Mary Catherine Hancock and husband Will of Hickory and a son Donald Lynn Safrit III and wife Missy of Winston Salem. Grandchildren Page, Lauren and Matthew Hancock and Kate and Mia Safrit.

Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 pm at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove.

Services: Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church with Rev. Joseph Talent, minister. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church and Lenoir Rhyne College.

The family would like to thank the staff of Women's and Pediatrics at RRMC and the Laurels of Salisbury for their loving care of Mrs. Safrit.
