George Frank Eury, 77, of 32362 Bridge Rd. Mount Pleasant died at 12:10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 in his home. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24 at Hartsell Funeral Home- Albemarle. The service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25 at Salem United Methodist Church in Albemarle where he was a member. Rev. Michael McClellan will be officiating, and the family will meet at the home. The burial will follow at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
A Cabarrus County native, he was born Nov. 10, 1930. He was owner and operator of F and L Spreading Service, and was also a farmer. He raised beef cattle. He was a former member and founder of Millingport Men’s Club, and an organizer of the Millingport Volunteer Fire Department. He retired from the fire department in 1985. He was in the U.S. army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by wife, Larvene Hatley Eury of Mount Pleasant; daughters, Lisa Almond and husband Randy of Mount Pleasant and Lana Bunting and husband Jeff of Mount Pleasant and grandchildren, Misty Almond Smith and husband Mike, Jeremy Almond and Landon Bunting.
He was preceded in death by father George Dewey Eury and mother Bertha Harwood Eury.
Memorials can be given to Salem United Methodist Church General Fund at 20987 Hwy 73 Albemarle, N.C. 28001 or Hopsice of Stanly County at 960 N. First St. Albemarle, NC. 28001.
