Ulysses Alexander Hatley

ALBEMARLE —Ulysses Alexander Hatley, 89, 16656 Highway 73, died Saturday at the home of a daughter, Larvene Eury, 36362 Bridge Road, Mount Pleasant.

Born Nov. 26, 1911, in Stanly County, Mr. Hatley was a son of the late Rufus Alexander and Mary Ann Harwood Hatley. A retired farmer, he was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and a former member of the administrative board for the church. He was a founding member of the Millingport Volunteer Fire Department and served as its first treasurer.

His wife of 66 years, Isabelle Page Hatley, died June 24, 2000.

Survivors include son Ted Hatley, Albemarle; daughters Larvene H. Eury, Mount Pleasant, and Cedel H. Lowder, Albemarle; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchild.

Services:2 p.m. Wednesday, Salem United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Mark Denton. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Larvene Eury.
