VanNest, will made 7 Jan 1853 "of Standing Stone..., and my body to the earth to be interred in the Burying Ground on the line of George VanNest and Isaac Westbrook in this my own Neighborhood, unto my wife..., to Nelson, my son, the piece of land he now lives upon..., my two sons, Erastus and Myron my homestead farm..., to Porter....to Eliza...."
Executor was H Morgan; witnessed by George VanNest & H Morgan. Entered into Probate 28 Jan 1853. [Register of Wills, Bradford County Courthouse]
John Vanness came to Standing Stone about the same time as his brother George in 1816. He devoted his time to farming, was a good citizen and faithful member of the Methodist church. He married Sally Dunn, who died Sept. 3, 1849.
