George inherited the lower half of his father's farm. He was a member of Organ Church and bought and sold land my times according to the Book of Deeds of Rowan County. He was a farmer and owned and operated a sawmill and a grist mill.

George and his son Henry died within 7 hours of each other. This was before George's daughter, Mary Ann, was born. Mary Ann, grandaughter of Wendel Miller, lived until 1930.
