Notes for John Henry Barringer
The German was Behringer.
In 1786 Peter Barringer received a NC Grant for a tract of about 570 acres two miles southwest of the present town of Rockwell. In 1793 he bought the adjoining tract on the south of 500 acres from Jacob Caster. There are only two other Barringer's among the early Rowan County landowners.
In 1793 Paul Barringer bought land about 12 miles west Rockwell.
J. and Paul Barringer received a NC STATE GRANT for land about 7.5 miles west of Rockwell which they sold to John Brandon in 1807.
