SALISBURY - Hoy Nelson Carter, 77, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.

Born Aug. 7, 1935 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late George Isaac and Nellie Sifford Carter. Educated in the Rowan County schools, Mr. Carter was a retired self-employed master carpenter and craftsman. A loyal member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Salisbury, he was on the church council, and helped care for and maintain the church appearance for years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and three sisters.

Family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of 57 years, Faye Beaver Carter; daughters, Connie Carter and husband Deane Young of Salisbury and Carolyn Carter Isaacson and husband Dennis of Landis; son, Terry Nelson Carter of Salisbury; brothers, Billy Eugene Carter of China Grove and Mayford Thurman Carter of Rockwell; and grandsons, Jacob Daniel Isaacson and Caleb Mitchell Isaacson.

Service & Visitation:The family will receive friends 3-4 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Salisbury. Funeral service will begin at 4 p.m. in the church, conducted by the Revs. Clarence Sifford and Bruce Graham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, c/o Cemetery Fund, or to Parkinson's Disease Research.

Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove is serving the family.
