Betty F. Carter

FAITH - Mrs. Betty Jean Frick Carter, 83, of Faith, passed away on Nov. 16, 2013, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.

Mrs. Carter was born on Nov. 14, 1930, daughter of the late Jessie Banks Frick and Lizzie Eller Frick. Mrs. Carter was a graduate of Granite Quarry High School.

The owner and operator of Betty's Fabric Shop, she sold hand-made ceramics, ran an in-home day care, was a Stanly Home Products representative, made and sold mints, cheese straws and peanut brittle. She was active with the Faith Elementary PTA.

Mrs. Carter was a lifetime member of Faith Lutheran Church, a member of Faith American Legion Post 327 Auxiliary, North Carolina Paraplegic Association and Faith Fireman's Ladies Auxiliary. She and her husband also co-chaired the Faith Fourth of July Beauty Queen Committee.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Major" Cecil Carter; brother Aaron Frick; and sister Molene Lyerly.

Mrs. Carter is survived by her daughters, Lisa Phelps and husband Rex of Faith, Karen Fink and husband Todd of Faith; and sister Anneva Ritchie.

Mrs. Carter is also survived by grandchildren Nik Phelps and wife Jayme, Tiffani Burney and husband Adam, Enzley Recinos and husband Walter; and great-grandchildren Mason and Mackenzey Phelps.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov. 19 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church.

Service: The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Randy Conley.

The family would like to give special thanks to Melba Pickler.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund, Faith, NC.
