LANDIS - The funeral will be Saturday for Robert Eugene Alexander, 74, 511 W. Ridge Ave., who died Wednesday (July 28, 1999) at Big Elm Nursing Center, Kannapolis, after a period of declining health.
Born Nov. 18, 1924, in Landis, Mr. Alexander was a son of the late John U. and Fannie Kirk Alexander. A graduate of Landis High School, he had retired as a purchasing agent at Dominion Yarn. He was a former alderman and town clerk for Landis. A member and elder at First Reformed Church, he was a Scout leader and a volunteer fireman. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include wife Willa Juanita Weaver Alexander; son Robert Eugene Alexander Jr., Morganton; daughter Susan A. Linn, Bridgewater, Va.; sisters Vertie Lipe, Della Alexander and Margaret Hoke, all of Landis, and Mary Corriher, China Grove; and four grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, First Reformed Church, conducted by the Rev. David P.Franks. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove.
Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, Landis.
