SPENCER - LTC Curry Waller Krider, Jr., 71, of Spencer, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center, ICU, Salisbury.

He was born Aug. 16, 1942, in Rowan County, the son of the late Curry Waller Krider Sr. and Evelyn H. Krider of Spencer.

Mr. Krider was a 1960 graduate of North Rowan High School and a 1976 graduate of The University of Tampa, Fla. He entered military service in 1966, served as a military adviser (MACV) in Vietnam from 1969-1970. He retired from the Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel.

From 1990-1991, he served as a Casualty Notification Officer in Operation Desert Storm in Knoxville, Tenn. From 1994-1995, he taught Military Science at Catawba College.

In 1995-1996, he was assigned to the U.S. Army's European Action Team in Heidelberg, Germany, where he managed and coordinated military emergency response throughout Europe. In addition to service in Europe, he served in South Korea.

He also owned and operated Curry's Auto Supply in Salisbury for 15 years.

He is survived by his wife Diana H. Krider; daughter Whitney Krider of the home; son Jeremy D. Krider, of State College, Pa.; step-sons Shane and Dana Hunter of Spencer; sister Terri Krider Hill (Randy) of Salisbury and Brenda Krider Martin (Joe) of Valrico, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation: 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Christiana Lutheran Church, 6190 U.S., 52, Salisbury, N.C.

Service: 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Christiana Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard Holshouser officiating. Burial to follow at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC with full military honors accorded by Fort Bragg Military Detail, Patriot Honor Guard and Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard.

Memorials: Christiana Lutheran Church; or Wounded Warrior Project, Topeka, KS.
