Sunday, September 29, 2013 — Dewey Ray Yow, 92 years of age, of Richfield, passed away Friday, September 27, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.

Dewey was born June 2, 1921, in Richfield, N.C. to the late John Yow and the late Ellar Elizabeth Yow. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Willie Mae Miller Yow; brothers, Burton and Hubert Yow, and sisters, Lessie Almond, Pauline Sells, and Mae Whitley.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral was at 4 p.m. Sunday at Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Nathan Hamill, Rev. Bob Cauble and Rev. Ron Honeycutt officiating. The burial followed in the Richfield Cemetery. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home.

He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Yow Potter and friend Chuck Walker of Richfield; sons, Bobby John Yow and wife Sedonia of Richfield and Tommy Wayne Yow and his wife Patti of Richfield; grandsons, Derek and Chris Yow, both of Richfield; granddaughters, Tangie Yow Laws of South Carolina and Angie Yow Beane of Albemarle; seven great-grandchildren, Anna and John, Shelby and Sydney, Talia and Tayden, and Landon; and his faithful dog, Molly.

Dewey retired as a supervisor from China Grove Textile Mill in 1983. After retirement he drove a school bus for the Stanly County School System and worked at the Waste Collection Site. He also was owner/operator and auctioneer of Yow and Sons Auction in Richfield. Dewey was a member of Stanly Antique Tractor Association. He loved John Deere tractors and enjoyed showing old tractors.
