Nettie Loflin
Nettie Loflin, age 86, of New London, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, January 17, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born November 25, 1931, in Gold Hill to the late Marvin Dutton Hill and Effie Bost Hill.
Nettie touched thousands of lives in her 60 years as a beloved music teacher and through her service in music ministry. Nettie’s lifelong passion for music was bested only by her love for her family.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, her daughter, Joy Loflin Hatley, and her sister, Mary Hill Davis.
She is survived by her children: Gayle Loflin Starkey, Milton Douglas Loflin, and Graham Wesley Loflin, her grandchildren: Adam Douglas Loflin, Jared Michael Hatley, Abigayle Virginia Horrell, and Timothy Wayne Hatley, her great grandchildren: Reya Elizabeth Loflin and Aiden Hatley, and her brother, William M. Hill.
Nettie will be memorialized and buried at Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she served as the Director of Music for 20 years.
The Loflin family is deeply appreciative for the outpouring of love and warmth they have received. Nettie filled our hearts with love and music; she will be tenderly missed and her memory cherished.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018, beginning at 1 pm and will be followed by a funeral service at 3 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
