GOLD HILL -- The funeral will be Wednesday for Marvin Dutton Hill, 95, Gold Hill, who died Sunday (Jan. 26, 2003) at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.
Born Aug. 9, 1907, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Hill was a son of the late Marcellus and Maggie Troutman Hill. He attended Mitchell Home School, now Pfeiffer University, and graduated from John Wesley Bible College, Greensboro. He also attended God's Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
An ordained minister in the Wesleyan Church, he was a poultry farmer and a brick mason.
His wife, Effie Bost Hill, died Aug. 29, 1981.
Survivors include son William Hill, Denton; daughters Nettie H. Loflin, New London, and Mary Davis, Lewisville; sister Elsie Bassinger, Salisbury; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell, conducted by the Rev. Bruce Sheets, pastor, Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial, Gold Hill Wesleyan Church cemetery.
Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials: Salisbury Christian School, 225 Majestic Drive, Salisbury, NC.
