Tuesday, June 26, 2012 — Hardis Wayne Hatley, age 71, of 5433 Ledbetter Road, Oakboro, N.C., passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at 3:37 p.m. in CMC-NorthEast in Concord.  

The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland on Wednesday, June 27 from 6-8 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church, where he was a member, on Thursday, June 28 at 4 p.m. following a 30 minute state. Pastor Charles Littlejohn will officiate the services, along with Rev. Josh Fraley. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. All other times the family will meet at his home.

Mr. Hatley was born in Stanly County on September 15, 1940, to the late Crayon Harding and Margie Little Hatley.

Mr. Hatley is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dorothy “Dot” Hatley; son, Michael Wayne Hatley and wife Della of New Salem; daughter, Bethany Allman and husband Rodney of Concord; sisters, Janice Hinson and husband Bill, Dianne Coble and husband Ted, Joyce Murray and husband Johnny, all of Oakboro; brother, Roger Hatley and wife Ellen of Georgeville. He has three grandchildren, Sarabeth Allman, Nicholas Allman, and John William Hatley.     

During his life, Mr. Hatley enjoyed working and staying active. He also had a love for classic cars and traveled several places showing them. He was owner and operator of Wilson Fence Company in Monroe.

Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Hatley family.
