Dorothy "Dot" Brooks Hatley

Dorothy "Dot" Brooks Hatley, 87, of Locust, formerly of Oakboro, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Autumn Care in Marshville.

Mrs. Hatley was born May 26, 1936 in Stanly County to the late Samuel Lee Brooks and Chloe Williams Brooks.  She was also preceded in death by husband, Hardis Wayne Hatley.

She was a homemaker and worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company in Charlotte.  She also worked with her husband for Wilson Fence Company until her retirement.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church.  The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church where she was a member, officiated by Rev. Marty Griffin. Burial will follow at the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery at 617 Bethel Church Rd., Locust.

She is survived by her daughter, Bethany (Rodney) Allman of Locust; her son, Michael (Della) Hatley of New Salem; brother, Kenneth (Barbara) Brooks of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Sarabeth Allman, Nicholas Allman, and John William Hatley; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hatley especially loved and enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
